Whew.
Today was one of those crazy days. We just walked in the door and got settled in and suddenly it hit me; Today was a long day.
We started early. I woke up around 7:30 (yes, this is SUPER early for me), but I hadn't slept well the night before so I was super tired. Got a shower, got dressed, all that good stuff. The kids slept until about 8:45. They were so sweet cuddled up together in my bed sine Daddy is still out of town. I wish I could have left them asleep because Ian woke up in a monstrous mood. He screamed and screamed...and screamed.
Finally I got the kids down the stairs. I was already running about 10 minutes late when I stepped in a big puddle of water on the carpet. Great. The downstairs toilet that has been acting up flooded everywhere. My carpet was soaked through. I tried to towel dry it, but it was beyond help. I got out the fan. My sister-in-law came up and said it was leaking through the basement. Great.
Rushed out the door and called the landlord on the way to drop the kids off. Got to town, dropped the kids off at my Mother-in-laws and headed out for school. Walked into class 5 minutes late. I hate being late. Hate it. I got my chemistry exam back with the grade of an 80. Not great, but the top grade in the class. Took a minute to feel thankful that the grading curb will work in my favor.
Made it through three hours of chemistry and went to get the kids. Ian begged to go to my grandparents to play with Aiden. We did that, then went with my Mom to do some shopping in Columbus. Then left and grabbed some Wendy's on our way to get our hair done. Got my hair cut, and got some bangs. Headed back to my Grandparents house where I had left my car. When I got there I got the bug to clean it out. You don't ignore the "clean your car" bug for fear that it may not return anytime soon. I almost had a heat stroke.
*sigh*
Then we stopped at the car wash (had to clean the outside too!) and then at Kroger to pick a few things up. Walked in the door at 9:30 pm. The dog pooped on the floor upstairs and Vanessa-Kate tumbled all. the. way. down the stairs while I was cleaning it up.
It's time for bed right?

Vanessa-Kate: 11 months and ONE YEAR!
Things I enjoy doing at this age: Walking! Actually, running. I like to run around the house and get into anything I possible can. I like to clean out the cabinets and throw everything on to the floor. I also like to cuddle. I like to play with my brother too! I also still very much enjoy eating food and nursing!
Things I don't like: Being ignored for any period of time and Mom taking stuff I'm playing with away from me...even if they aren't toys!
Milestones: I'm walking!! I'm also talking some. And did I mention that I'm ONE year old?

How I've changed this last month: I'm developing more of a personality of my own. I'm also getting more angry. Mommy thought I was the worlds easiest going baby. I've pretty much mastered throwing a fit. I remind Mommy and Daddy a bit of my brother. They're terrified.
Clothing Size: Mostly 6-9 Months and 12 Months. I have a couple of pairs of shorts in 0-3 and 3-6 because I have a tiny butt/waist. Size 2 diapers, size 3 shoes.
Sleep: Mommy misses me sleeping through the night. I'm in Mommy and Daddy's bed and I'm on and off the boob all night long.
Eating: I just love food. Blueberries are a favorite. But any old food will do. I also have picked up on nursing more again.
Words I say: Mom, Dada, Dog-dog, Bird, Mamal, Pap (Papal).
Why I haven't posted much lately;
Maybe you've noticed that I haven't posted much lately. Or maybe you haven't. Either way, I'm going to explain.
You see, in the past I've used my writing as a tool to keep me sane. I run to my writing when I'm feeling down, or when I'm anxious, or when I need a little time to reflect. The truth of the matter is that I've been keeping myself pretty sane lately without needing to write. This is not to say that I don't miss writing a bit though. I need to get back to it. It's good for me.
But, things are going well. School is a challenge, but it's not bad. Honestly, I like the challenge. Sometimes it's stressful; I spend a lot of time with my head in a book, but I'm doing well, and that makes me feel great. I'm not only making it through classes I didn't even think that I could take...I'm excelling in them. So yes, it's stress, but mostly good stress. I feel like things are moving in the right direction.
The kids are wonderful. Nothing makes me happier. Sure, Vanessa-Kate is walking and getting into everything, and Ian likes to whine at me... often. But, they are perfect. Things with Toby are swell, as always. He's my best friend. He's in Atlanta for the week on business though, which has been really hard on me and the kids. Maybe that's why I'm writing tonight.
We're in the midst of trying to buy a house. After quite a bit of searching we are officially in contract. Knock on wood, we will be first time homeowners by October.
So, things are going well. For one of the first times in a long time I can honestly say that I have very few worries. Maybe I'm just getting better at not letting the little things build up and affect me so greatly.
Anyway, I'd like to get back to writing again. Promise to update on Vanessa-Kate turning one later this week. Can you believe how quickly it went by? Toby and I were just discussing how we feel like we just had the "let's try for another baby" talk a couple of months ago. But here she is, over one year old.
