Vanessa-Kate: 8 months

Age: 8 Months

Things I enjoy doing at this age: Playing, being outside (lovveee being outside), crawling around like crazy, picking every little thing I can find on the floor and putting it in my mouth, nursing, being in the sling with mommy, playing with my brother and cousins, taking walks, eating ev-er-y-thing, and talking jibberish.

Things I don't like: My carseat. I'm so over the infant carseat. Time to buy a convertible carseat Mom.

Milestones: I can crawl super well now. I also am pulling myself up on tables and such. I got my first tooth all of the way through.

How I've changed this last month: In almost every way. I am getting SO big. There's no way to explain it. Everything I do is just more big-girl like.

Clothing Size: 6-9 months, size 2 diapers.

Sleep: Good, but I'm suddenly waking up to nurse once or twice a night.

Eating: I eat a lot of solid foods now. I also have taken a liking to my brothers beloved fruit pouches. I still nurse about 5-6 times per day. Mommy also gives me water in a bottle or a sippy cup when we are out and about or when we are out in the sun.

Words I say: Da-da, and possibly yeah.

Don't blame me, blame my technology.

I know, I know, I know, I haven't been posting much lately. But it's not my fault. It's my stupid computers fault.

Let me tell you about the day that I had last week. I woke up and my craptasic phone died. I plugged it in, and the charger didn't work. So I was just out of luck there. So, I went to turn on my Macbook, which is the computer that I use for everything but school. It's a million times better than my Dell. Since "becoming a mac" I actually feel my heart die a little inside everytime I have to touch my Dell. Anyway, suddenly the Macbook wouldn't take a charge. The computer seemed to be working fine, but the charger wouldn't work.

So, it soon died. So I put on my big girl panties and picked up the Dell.

The opening screen came up and suddenly went into a mode where it just kept saying "hibernating..." and it would act like it was loading. Yet, no matter how long you let it be it never actually would go into hibernation or boot up. It just kept saying "hibernating..." and trying to load.

So then I tried to watch television. The guide wasn't working right. No matter how many times I tried to change the channel it just stayed on an episode of Nancy Grace. I couldn't take that. I like her even less than I like the Dell. So I turned off the tv.

I don't know how to work my dvd player.

I turned on my ipod and tried to connect to the Internet but my wireless router had stopped working temporarily. And all of this was occurring during my "day off" when Ian is with his grandparents.

So, yeah, that's why I haven't been blogging much. The entire world of modern technology took a giant poop on me. I have yet to fix either of my computers, so I've been blogging from Tobys work computer occasionally after he gets home. It's a dell too. It makes my posts format weird. So if you see awkward spacing, that's why.

But don't give up on me 'yall. I'll be back someday...when I get my computers fixed and come out of the dark ages.

Week 36

Current Week: 36

Weeks to go: 4-ish. Okay, let's take the time to explain this. My due date is 4 weeks (28 days) from today. However, I will be induced during the 39th week (whatever day my OB is on hospital duty that week) if I have not yet had her. So that means 3-3.5 weeks. However, I have the feeling she will arrive before that. I'm still sticking with July 15th.

Weight gain: Not sure..13 lbs?

Stretchies: Just some leftovers.

Movement: Yes. It hurts.

Cravings: Eh.

Sleep: Horrible.

Best moment this week: Spending the long 4th of July weekend with family. =)

Gender: Girly-girl.

Labor signs: Yes. I won't go into detail though. It's kind-sorta icky for those who have never been pregnant. =P

Belly button: Flatish innie?

What I miss: Not having heartburn, not peeing every 2 seconds, sleeping.

What I'm looking forward to: This entire week; The town fair Wednesday-Friday, which takes place literally right in front of our house, my doctor appointment (with first cervix check) on Wednesday, Chiropractor on Thursday (I missed my weekly appointment and I'm hurting!) and then the lake (assuming I'm not WAY dilated) Friday night-Monday!

Weekly wisdom: Yep.

Milestones: I officially feel as big as a house. Is that a milestone?

Weekly wisdom: If something is special, treat it that way.

Milestones: Today is my "35/35". 35 Weeks, and 35 days until our due date.

So, it's been a long day. Firstly, we have not had hot water in our apartment since Friday, and it won't be back on until Thursday morning. Apparently the gas company shut off the gas even though *we* have never been late on a bill in our lives. Then, our car broke down today while we were on the way to Toby's Mom's house so that we could shower without freezing our asses off. I guess it's a pretty cheap fix, but the part is impossible to find. There are literally none in the state. So I have to wait for a dealership to order it, which could take forever.

So, yeah. I look awesome in these pictures.

Thursday, April 21, 2011

It's time for an update.

I feel like lately I haven't had the time to write about things as they happen. And I certainly haven't had the time to share all of the little things. Mostly it's because I started back to school after my wonderful quarter off and I have just been getting back into the swing of things.

So, let's start with Ian;

He's getting big, way too big. I feel like he has really been developing like crazy over these last few months. He already had a large vocabulary, but it seems like he is really grasping the idea of really being able to communicate what he is thinking. He lets me know when he wants/needs something, and sometimes he even *tries* to tell me about his day. He will randomly speak a couple words about something that he really enjoyed doing earlier in the day. He has also taken up calling people "nut". As in "You're a nut!". It's pretty much the cutest thing that I've ever seen.

He's starting to really enjoy eating as well. He has been eating lots of turkey. Ungodly amounts of turkey. He's getting taller (still!) and he's sleeping in a big boy bed. He is also taking a large amount of interest in Vanessa-Kate's things as they start to fill up the house. He likes to hug all of her things and lovingly say "Baaabbby". He gives her lots of kisses at night and tells her "Hiiiiiiiiii!" in the morning. He's going to make a wonderful big brother. I can't wait to see it in action.

And now onto Vanessa-Kate/Pregnancy;

Things are going smoothly. I had my regularly scheduled OB appointment (with my amazingly wonderful and sweet new doctor) today. The first surprise..? I passed my gestational diabetes test with flying colors! This is truly a miracle since I had GD with Ian and 85% or more of women who have GD once will have it again with all of the following pregnancies. My OB says that most of this is due to my wonderful weight gain, or lack thereof. I've been watching my diet closely and taking care of myself well.

The next thing that she checked was my cervix. I know that 25 weeks is early to check, but I dilated very early and fast with Ian, and I also had a long week full of contractions last week. But, thank the lord, my cervix is completely closed. No signs of early labor here! Keep cooking baby girl!

Lastly, she had a beautiful heartbeat of over 150 bpm. I have another appointment scheduled in 3 weeks and then we move to appointments every 2 weeks! Wow! This pregnancy is flying by. I'm getting more and more excited to meet her. It's all really sinking in. Maybe it's because my house is filled with little girl stuff. =)

Lastly a Family/General Update;

I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but Toby got an awesome promotion. We are so very proud of him. This promotion is a really great step forward for our family. He has worked really hard for it.

We've gone "healthy" in our house. We've been eating well, with lots of organic foods, fruits and veggies, whole grains, lean meats, almond milk, tofu, and lots of other good stuff. Tobys only rule? We still have to buy white bread. Our house is filled with healthy foods and a lousy loaf of $1.00 Kroger-Brand white bread. I suppose that we'll survive.

Also, we're finally prepared to buy another car. As soon as we find one that we actually want to buy.

Other than that, I've been keeping very busy with school. I'm a big idiot who thought that taking Mircoeconomics and Macroeconomics (two classes that I loathe) during the same quarter would be smart. Riiight. So if you don't hear from me much, that is why. I've most likely passed out in a pile of books.

No more C-Section!

I am very excited to say that I will (most likely) not be having a c-section. I say most likely because we are not planning to have one. But theres always the small possibility of an emergency c/s.

I met my new OB yesterday, the one who took over my old OB's practice and she was super nice. She took the time to talk to me about my concerns and she said that she 100% agrees with my feelings; that no decisions need to be made until we are in the delivery room. I should be able to deliver naturally, but if I cannot, we can change the plans. But theres no real reason to go ahead and schedule a c/s. Scorrrrreeee!

I also relived that I like her so much because that means that I get to stay at Licking Memorial for delivery. I really didn't want to have to change hospitals, so that's a big relief. I like the idea of a smaller hospital for a lot of reasons. It's more personal, I'm comfortable there (I had Ian there, my Mom & Grandma had their recent surgeries there, I had my surgery in September '10 there...) and it's easier for most of our family. Plus, I don't have to switch offices.

We also discussed my gestational diabetes. She said that compared to my charts from last pregnancy, my weight gain looks tremendous. I still haven't technically gained any weight. I'm 2 lbs under my pre-pregnancy weight, however I lost quite a bit in the first trimester. But, I've been keeping myself in check. Hopefully that means a lot less issues with blood sugar this time. She also gave me the final push I needed to get a YMCA membership. I need regular physical activity. The only downside? If I end up needing medication to control my GD, I will not be able to take glyburide this time. Glyburide is a pill. There is new research that says it gives people a lot of troubles. So, if I need medication, I will be on insulin. I do. not. want. insulin. I like giving blood too much. If I am given insulin even once I will never be able to give blood again. =( That breaks my heart. So I'm going to do all that I can to stay med-free!

...and that's my super-duper update.
